iPhone Free Around The World!

Recently, Wired Magazine Blog stated you can get the iPhone free in almost every country except the U.S. How wrong this is! Apparently, not much research was put into their statement (Or Title: Free iPhones Almost Everywhere, Except the US) because only three out of eleven countries we researched offer the iPhone free with a two-year contract. If you are tempted to do some traveling in those directions (listed below) make sure you are capable of wiping the firmware or changing the language – which is quite hard with the sophistication Apple has put in place (comments welcome). However, unlocking the iPhone is not such a hard feature, especially with the step-by-step tutorials and videos available (listed at bottom). If you search Google “How to Unlock iPhone” you get over 8 million results.

New iiPhone Display in America

It is true, through and through, Americans are so mesmerized by the iPhone that we are willing to pay $30 extra for it a month with a required data plan while paying almost the highest of any other country for the headset.

What is fascinating about the list we compiled is what Americans pay compared to every other country. In other countries price leverage is given to consumers that pay for higher priced plans, dropping the price on the Apple iPhone 8GB handset by as much as $100. As of now, AT&T doesn’t give this break to Americans - forcing customers to pay $30 extra for a required data plan. Although, AT&T, and Apple for that matter, will strick back and say it is now subsidized that is like saying "We know people will get pissed when they find out we are giving it away in other countries!"
India iPhone Premiers in Newspaper
We give it to Apple for playing the markets right; for example, India is the second largest cellular market behind China and the price of the iPhone there is only approx. $19 while in Sweden where the market is nearly on the bottom of the list it is priced at approx. $415 – but at least there you can negotiate based on your plan of choice.

Of course, it would not be fair to leave out the obvisous - with the U.S. dollar on the verge of collapse the currency exchange rate compared to the Euro (which is used by most-all the European Union) is not all Apple's innovative, greedy fault.
